Agartala, March 03, 2026: Prof Dr Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, today paid a courtesy call on Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya at his official residence in New Delhi.

According to sources, the meeting centered on key issues concerning youth development and the expansion of sports infrastructure in Tripura. The Chief Minister is understood to have highlighted the state government’s ongoing initiatives to empower the youth through skill development, sports promotion, and capacity-building programmes.

During the discussion, emphasis was reportedly laid on strengthening grassroots-level sports facilities, upgrading existing stadiums, and creating modern infrastructure to nurture emerging talents from the state. Tripura, known for producing promising athletes in disciplines such as football, athletics, and weightlifting, is keen to enhance institutional support to help sportspersons compete at national and international levels.

Sources said both leaders discussed the scope for greater coordination between the Centre and the state to accelerate sports-related projects and youth-centric schemes. The Chief Minister is believed to have sought continued support from the Union Ministry to further expand opportunities for young people in Tripura.

The meeting is seen as significant in the context of the state government’s broader push to engage youth in constructive activities and promote sports as a means of social and economic development.
