Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday attended the 83rd Commemoration of the Japanese aerial bombing at Khurai Chingangbam Mandop, paying homage to those who lost their lives in the World War II airstrike.
The commemorative event was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Khurai Thangjam Leikai in Imphal East, in the presence of Minister Kh. Loken Singh and MLA Th. Arunkumar Singh. The Chief Minister offered floral tributes to the departed souls, remembering their sacrifice with deep respect.
Recalling the historic tragedy, the Chief Minister noted that the bombing marked the first such experience for the people of Manipur during World War II, bringing the harsh realities of war to the region. He stated that the occasion remains a significant chapter in the state’s history, observed to honour the past and reaffirm a collective commitment to peace and resilience.
