Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Friday chaired a meeting of the Organising Committee for the Shirui Festival 2026 at the Secretariat, with MLAs and senior government officials in attendance.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on the modalities and comprehensive preparations to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the annual cultural festival.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised that the Shirui Festival should serve as a vibrant platform to strengthen communal harmony and foster deeper integration between the hill and valley districts of the state. He underscored the importance of the festival in promoting unity and mutual understanding among communities.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the rich indigenous culture and traditions of Manipur, Khemchand stated that the festival would continue to showcase the state’s unique heritage to the wider national and international audience.
