CM Khemchand Meets Amit Shah, Seeks Centre’s Support For Peace And Rehabilitation In Manipur

Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Sunday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in the national capital, marking his first meeting with the senior BJP leader since assuming office on February 4.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho of the Naga People’s Front and Nemcha Kipgen of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Kipgen, who represents Kangpokpi district, is the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur.

During the meeting, Shah reviewed the measures initiated by the newly formed BJP-led coalition government to bridge divides among communities in the state. The Chief Minister briefed the Union Home Minister on various outreach initiatives undertaken to promote peace, stability, and communal harmony since the government assumed office.

Assuring full backing from the Centre, Shah reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and normalcy in Manipur. He also pledged all necessary assistance for the state’s overall development and progress.

Emphasising the urgency of humanitarian concerns, the Union Home Minister directed the Chief Minister to prioritise the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), assuring complete cooperation from the Centre in implementing rehabilitation measures.
