Yumnam Khemchand on Tuesday attended the 135th Commemoration of the Kangla Attack held at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The programme was organised by the Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891 Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak to honour the martyrs and freedom fighters of the historic event.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the Kangla Attack marked a defining moment in Manipur’s history when the state lost its sovereignty. He stated that the occasion serves as a reminder that political disunity and internal strife can jeopardise the collective future.
Emphasising the importance of unity and shared purpose, Khemchand urged people to honour the sacrifices of their forebears by reaffirming their commitment to peace and a stronger Manipur.
