Amid continuing concerns over the humanitarian and security situation in Manipur, representatives of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Lok Bhavan in Imphal on Monday to press for urgent attention to issues affecting thousands displaced by the ongoing unrest.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the Governor of the difficulties faced by IDPs, particularly uncertainties related to resettlement, rehabilitation and safety.
They also raised broader concerns regarding the prevailing situation in areas along the Valley–Hill district interface, stressing the need for coordinated administrative and security measures to ensure stability and confidence among affected communities.
Governor Bhalla listened to the concerns raised and assured the delegation that the state administration has already initiated steps towards the resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced families. He reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating a safe, phased and dignified return of IDPs to their respective areas, keeping in view the ground realities.
The Governor further stated that sustained efforts are being made to restore normalcy, address humanitarian requirements and maintain peace and security in sensitive regions of the state.
Chief Secretary and the Commissioner (Home) were present during the interaction, underscoring the administration’s continued engagement with stakeholders as the situation in Manipur evolves.
