Agartala, May 22, 2026: The Tripura government has stepped up initiatives to transform Chabimura, one of the state’s most picturesque tourist destinations, into an internationally recognized tourism hotspot. A high-level review meeting on the beautification, management, and long-term development of the site was held at the State Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Addressing the meeting, the Tourism Minister described Chabimura as a symbol of Tripura’s natural heritage and pride. He said the state government is fully committed to placing the destination prominently on the global tourism map through coordinated development efforts.
“Chabimura is a tourist destination of unparalleled natural beauty and one of the most captivating sites in Tripura. We are determined to establish it as a world-class tourism destination,” the Minister stated.
The meeting focused on accelerating ongoing beautification works and ensuring proper management and maintenance of the tourist site through collective participation of all stakeholders.
Among those present were Amarpur MLA Ranjit Das, TTAADC Executive Member Chandra Kumar Jamatia, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Tourism Director Prashant Badol Negi, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Amarpur, and representatives of the Chabimura and Debbari Management Committees.
During the discussion, the Minister issued several directives and suggestions aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure and improving visitor experience at the site. He emphasized the need for close coordination among the State Tourism Department, TTAADC administration, local public representatives, and local committees to ensure sustainable development of the destination.
The meeting also deliberated on creating a tourist-friendly environment, generating local employment and income opportunities, preserving the cultural and natural heritage of Chabimura, and enhancing its promotion at national and international levels.
Officials informed that a comprehensive roadmap for the long-term development and maintenance of Chabimura is being prepared to ensure sustainable tourism growth in the region.
