Agartala, February 9, 2026: Serious allegations of corruption have emerged in the approval of an ‘Amrit Sarovar’ project under the Tripura’s Patichhari ADC Village in Bogafa RD Block, South Tripura’s Santirbazar subdivision. The controversy stems from the sanctioning of the project in the name of a deceased person, raising widespread questions about transparency and accountability.

TTAADC MDC Padma Lochan Tripura, accompanied by a delegation from Patichhari village, submitted a written complaint to the District Magistrate of South Tripura today, demanding a thorough investigation. The complaint states that the project, valued at ₹62.73 lakh, was approved in the name of late Premananda Murasin, son of late Haripada Murasin—an act described as a clear violation of legal and government guidelines.

The complaint further highlights that Premananda Murasin’s family are not permanent residents of Patichhari ADC Village. Despite this, the project was sanctioned in their name and land, prompting serious doubts about the approval process.

According to sources, three ‘Amrit Sarovar’ projects are currently being implemented in the Santirbazar constituency, overseen by South Zone DFO Narayan Jamatia. Allegations suggest that several check dams and other projects previously sanctioned by the District Magistrate also lacked transparency, raising suspicions about how resolutions are being prepared and who is involved.

Local residents have voiced concerns over the possible involvement of forest officials, office staff, panchayat representatives, and individuals close to the area’s MLA. Many fear that hidden agreements or undisclosed arrangements may be influencing project approvals. Calls for impartial investigations into all projects sanctioned by the District Magistrate have intensified.

The complaint also alleges that mechanical equipment, including bulldozers, was used during project implementation—an act strictly prohibited under MGNREGA guidelines. Video evidence reportedly exists and may be submitted to the administration if required.

The controversy has sparked anger and anxiety among villagers, who insist that the matter directly affects public interest. Padma Lochan Tripura has urged the District Magistrate to initiate an immediate and comprehensive investigation and to take strict legal action against those responsible for the unlawful approval of the project.
