Agartala, March 09, 2026: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said that several development-oriented infrastructure projects are underway across the state to transform Tripura’s transport landscape and improve public services.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat, the minister assessed the progress, timelines and financial aspects of the ongoing infrastructure development works under the Transport Department. Senior officials from the Transport Department, Public Works Department, Rural Development Department, Housing Boards and representatives of various construction agencies were present in the meeting.

Addressing the officials, Chowdhury emphasized that the government is taking multiple initiatives to strengthen transport-related infrastructure in different parts of the state. “To change the transport landscape in the state, development-oriented projects are currently underway in various parts of Tripura. These include the construction of new District Transport Offices (DTOs) in several districts, the new office building of the Transport Commissionerate in Agartala, and the development of modern motor stands in different locations,” he said.

The minister reviewed the status of each project and sought detailed updates on the construction progress and fund utilization. He stressed that timely completion of the projects would significantly enhance administrative efficiency and provide better services to the people of the state.

Chowdhury directed the concerned departments and implementing agencies to expedite the construction work while ensuring high standards of quality. “All agencies must complete the work within the stipulated timeline without compromising the quality of construction,” he said.

He further instructed the officials to ensure proper documentation and timely submission of Utilization Certificates for the completed works. According to the minister, strict monitoring of the projects will continue to ensure transparency, accountability and efficient implementation of the infrastructure initiatives aimed at strengthening Tripura’s transport system.
