The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) on Tuesday carried out an eviction drive in the Khyndailad area in accordance with a directive issued by the Meghalaya High Court.

During the drive, officials dismantled stalls and seized goods belonging to street vendors operating without valid Certificates of Vending (COV). The action was taken following a state government order that set July 22 as the deadline for unauthorised vendors to vacate the area.

In preparation for the drive, SMB authorities had been verifying vending permits over the past several days.
