Agartala, January 30, 2025: In a move aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the forthcoming general elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the State Election Commission is likely to source Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from Madhya Pradesh, subject to final approval and logistical arrangements.

The current tenure of the TTAADC is scheduled to end on April 18, 2026, prompting the Election Commission to begin preparatory work well in advance. As part of this process, officials from the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission have already initiated ground-level assessments in Tripura.

According to the Sepahijala district administration, Sanju Kumari, Deputy Secretary, and Priyanshi Bhanwar, Under Secretary of the State Election Commission, Madhya Pradesh visited the district to review the proposed warehouses identified for the storage of EVMs. The visit focused on assessing infrastructure readiness and security measures at the designated locations.

The district administration stated in a Facebook post that the officials thoroughly inspected the sites to ensure safe and secure storage of the Electronic Voting Machines. Detailed discussions were also held regarding the transportation and logistical arrangements for bringing the EVMs from Madhya Pradesh to Tripura for the TTAADC polls.

The inspection was conducted in the presence of the District Magistrate and Collector, along with the Additional District Magistrate (PP). The exercise is seen as a crucial step in strengthening election preparedness ahead of the tribal council elections.
