Agartala, December 11, 2025: Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday said the newly launched Farmer Registry marks a major milestone in building a transparent, efficient, and technology-driven agricultural ecosystem in India.

Speaking to reporters after a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister described the Farmer Registry as a “unique and integrated database” that will serve as the backbone of the country’s digital agriculture framework. The meeting was attended by the Agriculture Secretary, Director of Agriculture, Director of Horticulture, officials of various departments, BAC Chairmen, and Sector Officers through video conference.

Nath said registration in the Farmer Registry has been made mandatory for availing any government benefit, including the PM-KISAN scheme. He added that the system will ensure that financial assistance reaches farmers’ bank accounts directly, eliminating delays and the involvement of intermediaries. “This will guarantee that genuine farmers receive the right benefits at the right time,” he said.

The Minister highlighted that the registry will create a verified identity for each farmer, linking land records and Aadhaar details. This will remove duplication and support accurate delivery of subsidies, crop insurance, agricultural loans, and inputs.

Calling the Registry the “cornerstone of digital agriculture,” Nath said it will integrate services such as Soil Health Cards, digital crop surveys, market linkages, and advisory support. “Farmers will receive timely information and services, enabling them to make informed decisions. Transparency and accountability will be strengthened in every scheme,” he noted, adding that it will also open pathways for innovation in the agri-tech sector.

He further said each farmer will receive a ‘Unique Farmer ID,’ helping the government design targeted policies based on precise land and crop data. The unified system will save farmers both time and money by providing all services in one place.

“The Farmer Registry will not only simplify administrative processes but also empower farmers and enhance their income through the adoption of new technologies,” Nath said, urging all farmers of the state to complete the registration process promptly and join the shift toward digital agriculture.
