Agartala, December 01, 2025: Former Member of Parliament Rebati Tripura launched a scathing attack on Tipra Motha’s former supremo and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, accusing him of misleading the public through his new political initiative, One North East.

Speaking at a press conference in Agartala on Monday, Rebati Tripura alleged that the campaign was nothing more than a strategy to mask Pradyot’s “existential crisis” and to revive failed regional leadership in the Northeast. He claimed that the One North East event at Astabal ground was essentially a Tipra Motha rally, where Pradyot and other regional leaders delivered “provocative speeches.”

“Regional parties can never sustain. They are formed around one or two issues only to fool the people. When those issues fade, they float new parties. Pradyot is now talking about One North East just to hide his crisis,” Rebati Tripura said.

The former MP further criticized Pradyot for abandoning earlier demands such as Tipraland and Greater Tipraland, which he once championed but has now “erased from the dictionary.” He accused Pradyot of making contradictory statements over time and of attempting to fuel divisive politics.

On governance, Rebati Tripura alleged that the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) under Tipra Motha lacked financial discipline and ignored constitutional norms. He demanded a full audit of ADC’s financial activities, dismissing its development claims as “mere rhetoric.”

He also took a personal swipe at Pradyot, saying: “In Congress he said one thing, now he says another. After 10–15 years he will admit he was wrong. He avoids his father’s identity, though his father was a Congress leader and MP, and instead uses his grandfather’s name for politics.”

Rebati Tripura rejected calls for dividing Tripura or granting special constitutional rights, calling such demands impractical. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for nearly eliminating extremism in the state, boosting infrastructure, and raising Tripura’s national profile.

However, he warned that attempts were being made to “reignite unrest and communal tensions” in the state under the guise of new political movements.
