Agartala, August 01, 2025: Soon after four days of political violence and attack at Asharambari in Khowai district, a BJP meeting at Jampuijala Bazar in Tripura’s Sepahijala district came under attack on Thursday, leaving several party workers injured. The meeting organised by the BJP Janajati Morcha’s Takarajala Mandal was being held in preparation for a tribal rally scheduled in Agartala on August 9.

According to party sources, unidentified miscreants launched a sudden assault on the gathering, triggering chaos and leaving multiple BJP supporters with serious injuries. The injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, speaking to reporters, condemned the incident, terming it “a deliberate attempt to suppress democratic voices in tribal areas.” He alleged that a large group of miscreants had been mobilised across different locations in Jampuijala to prevent BJP workers from participating in meetings.

“Such targeted violence is a direct assault on democracy,” Debbarma said, hinting at the involvement of the Tipra Motha party without naming it directly. He further alleged that BJP programmes in the TTAADC areas have increasingly become targets of politically motivated disruptions.

Security has since been beefed up in Jampuijala, with police forces deployed to maintain order and prevent any further flare-up.

This marks the second such attack on BJP activities in a matter of days. Earlier this week, party workers were allegedly assaulted during a ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in Asarambari, which the BJP claims was disrupted by Tipra Motha supporters.

The back-to-back attacks have heightened political tensions in Tripura, drawing sharp criticism from BJP leaders who accuse opposition forces of orchestrating a campaign of intimidation ahead of key political events.
