Agartala, October 28, 2025: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday reaffirmed that the primary objective of the Tripura government is to make Tripura self-reliant while ensuring employment opportunities for every household.
The Minister made the statement after inaugurating a multi-storied office building housing the Agriculture and Horticulture departments under one roof, along with the newly built Rajarbag Primary Rural Market at Udaipur in Gomati district.
The government has spent ₹9 crore on the new office complex and ₹2.27 crore on the rural market. “To achieve a self-reliant Tripura, the development of agricultural infrastructure is essential. Keeping this in mind, the government has taken several initiatives to upgrade markets across the state,” Nath said.
Highlighting the government’s investment in the sector, Nath said that while the previous government had spent only ₹20 crore before 2018, the present government has invested ₹303 crore in agricultural markets over the past seven years. “Almost every market has been completed. We are not just focusing on production but also on marketing. Farmers are receiving the respect they deserve under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he added.
Emphasizing the importance of dignity for farmers, Nath said, “Farmers are like gods who feed us. Everyone must respect them. Our government’s mission is self-reliant India and self-reliant Tripura. We want employment in every house. It’s not possible to give government jobs to all, but we can create opportunities.”
Calling on public representatives to contribute positively to development, the Minister said, “Life is like a notebook — the first and last pages are written by God, and the middle pages are ours to fill.” He lauded Gomati district for being recognized as the best-performing district and urged all to maintain the cleanliness of markets.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, along with MLAs Rampada Jamatia, Jitendra Majumder, Abhishek Debroy, Sanjoy Manik Tripura, Pathan Lal Jamatia, and Ranjit Das, were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
