Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Nupi Lal Day, to be observed on December 12, 2025.
In his message, the Governor said the day — also known as Nupilan Numit — stands as a tribute to the extraordinary courage, resilience and patriotic sacrifices of Manipuri women. He recalled that the Nupi Lal movements of 1904 and 1939 remain shining chapters in Manipur’s history, marked by women rising with unity and determination against injustice and exploitation.
Governor Bhalla described Nupi Lal not merely as a protest but as a powerful testament to women’s collective leadership and social consciousness. He said the “brave mothers of Manipur transformed their pain into courage,” inspiring generations with their unwavering spirit.
He further noted that the sacrifices of these women serve as a reminder that the progress of any society lies in respecting and empowering its women.
Calling upon the people to uphold the glorious legacy of Nupi Lal, the Governor urged all to strive for a peaceful and harmonious society. “May the spirit of our brave mothers guide us towards a future of prosperity, unity and progress,” he added.
