Agartala, August 01, 2025: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Thursday called upon public representatives, youth, and citizens to join hands in the fight against tuberculosis and contribute actively towards building a TB-free Tripura.

The Governor made the appeal while inaugurating a dedicated web portal, an e-book, and the ‘Jan Jan Ka Rakhe Dhyan’ initiative under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan during a programme held at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan. The event was organised under the State Rural Health Mission as part of the National TB Elimination Campaign.

Highlighting the importance of grassroots involvement, Governor Reddy encouraged young people to become members of TB-Free Clubs in colleges and educational institutions to help generate awareness at the community level.

“The battle against TB cannot be won without public participation. Modern diagnostic centres have been established in every district, and several innovative steps like AI-based sputum testing, TB-Free Panchayats, and focused testing in tea garden and rubber plantation belts have been taken,” said the Governor, commending the role of frontline health workers in controlling TB in the state.

During the event, the Governor interacted with Zilla Parishad Presidents, Panchayat Samiti Chairpersons, BAC members, and other local leaders, urging them to actively support the campaign at the grassroots level. He also symbolically distributed nutrition kits to the families of two TB patients, reinforcing the critical link between nutrition and TB recovery.

The programme was attended by acting Sabhadhipati of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Biswajit Shil, Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, Dhalai’s Sabhadhipati Sumita Das, Dakshin Tripura’s Dipak Datta and Unakoti’s Amalendu Das, among other panchayat-level leaders.

Also present were Secretary to the Governor Uttam Kumar Chakma, National Health Mission Mission Director Saju Vaheed A, and State TB Officer Dr. Nupur Debbarma, who welcomed the guests and outlined the objectives of the campaign.
