Governor Presides Over First Convocation Of Manipur Technical University

Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who is also the Chancellor, presided over the first Convocation of Manipur Technical University at the City Convention Centre on Thursday.

The ceremony marked the university’s first convocation since its establishment in 2016.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Director of IIT Guwahati Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education Ningthoujam Geoffrey, and Registrar Ramananda Nongmeikapam were present at the event.

The Governor formally declared the convocation open and conferred undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across various disciplines for the academic years 2020 to 2025. More than 250 students participated in the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor congratulated the graduates and highlighted the importance of resilience, discipline, and hard work, stating that success cannot be achieved through shortcuts. He encouraged students to explore diverse career options beyond government service, including entrepreneurship and emerging professions, while stressing integrity and perseverance.

Emphasising that students, faculty, and institutional discipline together define a university’s standing, the Governor urged Manipur Technical University to strive for national recognition through quality education, research, innovation, and market-oriented courses aligned with the National Education Policy. He also reminded graduates of their responsibility to contribute positively to society and appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for ensuring the timely conduct of convocations.

The ceremony was attended by graduating students along with their parents, senior government officials, members of the academic fraternity, and other distinguished guests.
