The Governor of Manipur on August 29 reviewed the stock position of petroleum fuel and LPG in the state, which has been steadily depleting due to frequent landslides disrupting traffic along NH-2 and NH-37, the two vital lifelines of Manipur.

During the review meeting with all stakeholders, it was decided that the State Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Department, in coordination with Manipur Police and the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), would organize a special convoy exclusively for petroleum products and LPG.

The convoy comprises 158 tanker trucks carrying petrol and diesel, 5 tankers of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and 29 tankers of LPG. Officials confirmed that the vehicles departed from Jiribam for Imphal early in the morning of August 30 and are expected to arrive within the next two to three days.

The state government has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure adequate fuel availability for both domestic and commercial needs, despite the challenges posed by frequent landslides.
