Agartala, March 27, 2026: The Government of India has approved the budget for the Financial Inclusion vertical under Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission for the financial year 2026–27, with a major focus on strengthening rural self-help groups (SHGs) across the state.

According to the approved plan, a total credit flow target of ₹1,000 crore has been set to facilitate bank linkage for around 30,000 rural self-help groups, aimed at expanding access to institutional finance and promoting income-generating activities among women members.

As part of livelihood enhancement measures, ₹40 crore has been earmarked as livelihood support for nearly 4,000 women SHG members to help strengthen enterprise-based activities and improve household income.

The financial inclusion budget also includes insurance coverage for 4.4 lakh SHG members under accidental insurance schemes, ensuring wider social security protection for women associated with self-help groups.

In addition, around 2 lakh SHG members will be provided financial literacy training to improve awareness on banking, savings, digital transactions and financial management.

To encourage digital financial practices, 13,500 self-help groups are proposed to be brought under cashless transactions through QR-based digital payment systems during the next financial year.

Officials said the approved financial inclusion activities are aimed at empowering rural women through better credit access, financial literacy, insurance coverage and digital financial participation across Tripura.
