Emphasising the critical role of agricultural innovation in ensuring food security and sustainable livelihoods, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh highlighted the growing importance of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in strengthening the state’s farming ecosystem.
In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister noted that ICAR, through its extensive network of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across all districts, has been instrumental in promoting advanced farming techniques, enhancing rice productivity, and addressing region-specific agricultural challenges.
He underscored that ICAR’s initiatives are not only improving crop output but also supporting sustainable livelihoods by equipping farmers with modern knowledge, research-based solutions, and capacity-building programmes tailored to local needs.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Khemchand said that Manipur will continue to work closely with ICAR to empower farmers, strengthen agricultural resilience, and meet the increasing food demands of the state’s population.
