Agartala, September 10, 2025: The Pediatric Department of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital has earned national recognition, becoming the first healthcare institution in Tripura to be awarded the M.U.S.Q.A.N. (Muskan Quality Assurance for Newborns) certificateby the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Ministry of Health, Government of India.
The certification follows a detailed evaluation of the hospital’s Pediatric Ward, Pediatric OPD, and Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) conducted on August 12–13, 2025, by an external NHSRC expert team. IGM Hospital secured a score of 81.45%, successfully meeting all six mandatory parameters required for the “Quality Certified” status.
The M.U.S.Q.A.N. initiative, under the National Health Mission, seeks to enhance the quality and safety of services for children and newborns in government hospitals nationwide. Certification is granted to institutions that meet strict national benchmarks across six quality indicators.
Officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department stated that the recognition underscores IGM Hospital’s commitment to delivering safe, affordable, and high-quality pediatric care. They added that the achievement marks an important step in strengthening child healthcare services across Tripura.
This accomplishment is being hailed as a milestone moment for the state, reflecting its ongoing efforts to advance healthcare infrastructure and ensure better outcomes for its youngest citizens.
