Agartala, May 28, 2026: In a significant legal success for the police administration of Kamalpur Police Station under Dhalai district, a court has awarded rigorous imprisonment and imposed a monetary fine on an accused convicted in an illegal entry case under provisions of the Foreigners Act and Immigration laws.

The judgment was delivered in connection with Kamalpur Police Station Case No. 084/2025, registered under Sections 21 and 24 of the Immigration & Foreigners Act, 2025, along with Section 14A of the Foreigners Act, 1946.

After examining the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kamalpur, found the accused guilty of the charges. The court sentenced the accused to 140 days of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹2,000.

Officials stated that the successful conviction was made possible due to the dedicated investigation carried out by ASI Motilal Malakar, the Investigating Officer of Kamalpur Police Station. His meticulous collection of evidence and persistent efforts played a crucial role in establishing the guilt of the accused before the court.

The achievement has been appreciated by both the Tripura Police and the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Tripura), who congratulated the investigating officer for his commitment and professionalism.

Police officials said the conviction once again reinforces the message that violations of law, including illegal entry and offences under the Foreigners Act, will be dealt with strictly in accordance with legal provisions.
