Indian Women’s Football Team To Face Nepal In Exhibition Match At Gangtok

The Indian women’s football team will play an exhibition match against Nepal at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 4:45 PM IST.

The fixture comes shortly after the Tri-Nation International Friendlies in Shillong, where Nepal defeated India 2-1. Organised by the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), the game marks the Blue Tigresses’ first-ever international appearance in Sikkim, creating high excitement among football fans across the region.

On the eve of the match, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay hosted both the Indian and Nepal teams for a dinner in Gangtok.

SFA President Menla Ethenpa said the state was thrilled to host an international fixture of this scale. “We are grateful to AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey for this opportunity. The Indian women’s team has qualified for the Asian Cup 2026 after 22 years, which makes the occasion even more special,” he said.

Ethenpa added that the stadium and its facilities had been carefully prepared for the event, which is expected to draw a record crowd of around 25,000 spectators. The Chief Minister will be the Chief Guest during the match.In a bid to encourage maximum participation, the SFA has announced free entry for spectators.

“The enthusiasm among the public is extraordinary. We want football lovers from across Sikkim and neighbouring regions like Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and North Bengal to enjoy the game,” Ethenpa said.
