Shillong, May 26: A tourist couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has gone missing in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district, police confirmed on Monday.
The couple, identified as 29-year-old Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, had rented a two-wheeler to visit the popular tourist destination of Sohra (Cherrapunji). Concern arose after their mobile phones remained switched off since Sunday night.
“Their brother Govind reported them missing after he failed to contact them. The couple was last seen in the Sohra area,” a senior police officer said.
Their hired two-wheeler was later found abandoned around 15 kilometres from Sohra town.
Search operations have been launched, with police teams checking local hotels, homestays, and vehicle rental services. Authorities have also appealed to local residents for any information that could help trace the missing couple.
