Agartala, March 06, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday extended warm congratulations to Jishnu Dev Varma on his appointment as the Governor of Maharashtra, calling it a “proud moment” for the state.

An official notification issued on Thursday confirmed that Dev Varma, who has been serving as the Governor of Telangana, will now take charge in Maharashtra. In the reshuffle, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has been assigned the role of Governor of Telangana.

Dev Varma, a prominent political figure from Tripura, previously held the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the Biplab Kumar Deb-led government before his gubernatorial appointment in Telangana.

Following the announcement, leaders across Tripura expressed joy and pride. CM Saha, in a post on X, wrote: “Heartiest congratulations to Shri Jishnu Dev Varma Ji on his appointment as Governor of Maharashtra. His vast experience and dedication to public service will surely guide the state towards progress and prosperity.”

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury echoed similar sentiments, describing the appointment as “another proud moment” for Tripura in a Facebook post. Speaker-in-charge of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Rampada Jamatia, also conveyed his best wishes, hoping for Dev Varma’s success and well-being in his new role.
