Kohima, May 27: Principal Secretary for Law and Justice, Y. Kikheto Sema, called on Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in New Delhi to pursue key judicial infrastructure matters concerning Nagaland.
During the meeting, Sema sought an increase in the state’s Notary Public quota from 200 to 400, citing outdated figures based on the 1963 population. Minister Meghwal assured that the proposal would be considered, with an amendment likely within two months.
Sema also highlighted the need for additional central funding of ₹299 crore to complete the long-pending Nagaland High Court building project. Meghwal informed that the proposal is under review by the Ministry of Finance and expressed optimism about funding in the current financial year.
