Imphal, Sept 6: A Kuki organization, the Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR), has petitioned the Supreme Court-appointed officer, Dattatray Padsalgikar, to register an FIR and initiate an investigation against Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The allegations include conspiracy to commit large-scale ethnic violence against the Kuki people in Manipur.

KOHUR submitted a memorandum, accompanied by a 48-minute audio recording purportedly of the Chief Minister, to Padsalgikar through Home Secretary Govind Mohan. The organization seeks action based on news articles about the leaked audio, which the Manipur government has dismissed as doctored.

The Kuki organization demands investigation into the alleged conspiracy involving mass murder, sexual offenses, and other criminal actions against the Kuki minority. KOHUR emphasizes the need for an independent investigation, citing the challenging environment for seeking police action against the Chief Minister in Manipur.

If the audio recording is found to be false or manipulated, KOHUR requests prosecution of those responsible. Kuki groups claim the audio clip is evidence of the Chief Minister’s involvement in the ethnic violence, which has resulted in over 200 deaths and thousands displaced since May last year. The Chief Minister has termed the clip a “conspiracy” and stated that an FIR has been filed, with the matter being sub judice.
