The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has strongly condemned the participation of certain Kuki-Zo MLAs in the formation of the Manipur Government, calling it a gross violation of the Lungthu Resolution adopted on January 13, 2026.

In a statement, the KZC said the resolution was unanimously agreed upon by Suspension of Operations (SoO) groups, Kuki-Zo MLAs, and the Council, committing them to refrain from joining the state government without a written political assurance from both the Central and State governments to support a negotiated political settlement in the form of a Union Territory with Legislature under the Constitution of India.
The Council asserted that, in the absence of a political solution to the ongoing ethnic conflict, participation in what it described as a Meitei-dominated government amounts to a betrayal of the collective stand, unity, and sentiments of the Kuki-Zo people. The KZC alleged that such actions disregard the suffering and sacrifices endured by the community during the conflict.

Terming the move a serious betrayal, the KZC announced a social boycott against all Kuki-Zo MLAs who have joined the Manipur Government. It urged the public not to cooperate or associate with them in any social, customary, or public matters across Kuki-Zo areas.

The Council said the boycott will remain in force until the concerned MLAs withdraw from participation in the Manipur Government and realign themselves with the collective political position of the Kuki-Zo people.
