Agartala, June 27, 2025: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Khowai situated at Chebri in Khowai district has been awarded the Best KVK Award for the year 2024–25 for the state of Tripura. The accolade was presented by the ICAR – Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII, Umiam, Meghalaya during its 9th Foundation Day celebration held on June 24, 2025.

The award ceremony was graced by dignitaries including Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Hon’ble Agriculture Minister of Meghalaya, Dr. B.C. Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, and Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director of ICAR-ATARI, Zone VII.

KVK Khowai earned this recognition for its outstanding contributions in agricultural extension, technology dissemination, and innovation, significantly impacting the farming communities of the Khowai district. The centre was lauded for delivering location-specific, cutting-edge agricultural technologies and developing model villages such as Seed Production Village, Climate Smart Village, Oilseed Model Village, and Pig Village.

The KVK has successfully implemented multiple centrally and state-sponsored projects, while also promoting rural entrepreneurship and empowering farm women. Notably, several farmers and agri-entrepreneurs developed by KVK Khowai have won national-level awards from reputed institutions.

In the field of research, KVK Khowai has published its work in national and international high-impact journals, secured patents for innovative technologies, and registered several plant varieties under PPV&FRA and the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR).

This award marks a significant milestone in the KVK’s journey, setting a benchmark for agricultural innovation and rural development in Tripura.
