Agartala, May 15, 2025: Left-wing youth organizations have raised strong demands for the immediate filling of over 51,000 vacant government posts in Tripura and condemned the current system of “offers” instead of proper appointments.
In a press conference held at Chhatra-Yuva Bhavan, Melarmath in Agartala city on Thursday, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State Secretary Nabarun Deb presented detailed data on the vacancies across various departments.
“Tripura’s health and education sectors have collapsed under the BJP regime. The entire state is grappling with rising unemployment and widespread drug addiction, which is ruining the youth,” alleged Nabarun Deb.
Deb also questioned the intent behind Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s announcement to establish de-addiction centers across districts. “If the Chief Minister is so serious about fighting addiction, why hasn’t he taken action against those who are enabling the drug trade? What stops him from destroying this menace at its root?” he asked, adding that “there is no rule of law in the state anymore.”
Citing alarming figures, Deb revealed, “Out of 2,167 higher secondary schools in the state, not a single one has a principal. Schools are functioning without proper heads, and the last time an engineer was recruited was during the Left Front government in 2017. Hospitals too are suffering due to shortages of doctors, nurses, and health staff.”
The DYFI also reacted sharply to derogatory remarks made by Madhya Pradesh BJP Minister Vijay Shah against Colonel Sophia Qureshi following the successful Indian Army-led Operation Sindoor on May 7.
“It is shameful that after a bold and precise counter-attack on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK, such disgraceful statements are being made against a decorated officer. We strongly condemn these comments,” Deb said.
The youth organization has called for an end to political apathy and demanded immediate government action to secure the future of Tripura’s youth.
