Major Recovery Of Arms And Ammunition By Security Forces In Manipur Hill Districts

Security forces comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Army, and CAPFs have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition during extensive search operations in the hill districts of Manipur. The joint operations, carried out over the last few days in Churachandpur, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts, were launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs about weapons concealed in interior and suspected locations.

The recoveries include 87 weapons, among them M16, MA1 and INSAS rifles, 9mm FGC MK-II rifle, .303 rifles, carbines, pistols, shotguns, lathodes, and pompi guns. Security forces also seized five lathode bombs, 57 assorted rounds of ammunition, 23 radio sets, two radio set chargers, and two BPJ plates.

Manipur Police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the state, urging the public to cooperate with security forces and promptly report any information related to illegal arms to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room. Senior officials said joint operations will continue in a sustained and focused manner to restore normalcy, maintain public order, and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
