A shocking incident has occurred in Meghalaya’s Eastern West Khasi Hills district where a 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Phyrnailin Kharsyntiew, by slitting her throat in front of her father at a local market in Mairang Pyndengumiong village on Monday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the accused approached the victim and her father while they were selling farm produce and got engaged in an argument with the woman. The situation escalated, and the man suddenly attacked the woman, slitting her throat. The victim was immediately taken to Mairang Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Locals managed to apprehend the accused as he tried to flee the scene and handed him over to the police.
