A three-day training programme for Anganwadi workers under the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiative, organised by the ICDS Project Kakching under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, continued on its second day today at the Library and Information Centre, Kakching.
The day’s sessions focused on child nutrition, hygiene, and community engagement. Oinam Ibemhal led the recap and expectation-setting, followed by an interactive session on the protocol for managing malnutrition, including Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), and micronutrient deficiencies, conducted by Julia Kom and W. Monteshwori.
Bajilee and Seemarani highlighted nutrition, hygiene, and dietary guidelines for children aged 0–6 years. Later, Ibemhal also conducted a session on growth monitoring techniques using the Poshan Tracker. The day concluded with discussions on parental engagement, community mobilisation, and creating a safe environment for children, facilitated by W. Binata and others. The training will conclude tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the District Child Protection Unit, Kakching, also organised a one-day legal awareness programme on child protection and trafficking on Monday at Sekmaijin Mayai Leikai Community Hall for the Village Level Federations (VLFs) of Sekmaijin Gram Panchayat.
The programme featured Darngam Khaling, Member Secretary of CWC Tengnoupal, and Mala Lisham, Programme Officer of the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), as resource persons. Around 140 participants from five VLFs attended the awareness event.
