Noney Battalion of the Assam Rifles extended crucial humanitarian assistance to residents of Gathao and Duithanjang villages in Khoupum Valley, Noney district, following devastating floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on the night of July 15–16, 2025.
The deluge caused widespread damage to infrastructure and cut off road connectivity, leaving several villagers stranded. Responding promptly, the Flood Relief Column based at Khoupum launched rescue and relief operations, evacuating civilians from waterlogged and isolated areas to safer locations.
Troops also assisted in clearing debris from damaged homes, mitigating further risks and helping restore living conditions. Essential food supplies and other commodities were secured in safe locations to prevent spoilage, while a dedicated medical team provided critical health services to the affected population.
The timely and compassionate efforts of the Assam Rifles brought much-needed relief and comfort to the villagers, who expressed heartfelt gratitude. Upholding their motto of service and protection, the Assam Rifles once again proved to be a vital support system during times of crisis.
