Assam Rifles on December 13, 2025, constructed and inaugurated a weather-proof market shed at Kaikao village in Tamenglong district of Manipur under Operation Sadbhavana, aimed at strengthening local infrastructure and promoting sustainable livelihoods.

The newly built market shed will provide a secure and reliable space for economic activities throughout the year. It has been established with a focus on enhancing women’s livelihoods and promoting women empowerment by enabling them to sell agricultural produce, handicrafts and other local products in a dignified and protected environment.

The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of around 260 villagers, including women entrepreneurs, community leaders and youth. The programme was marked by a vibrant display of traditional local dances, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region and adding a festive spirit to the event.

Addressing the gathering, the Commandant of Assam Rifles emphasised the importance of self-reliance, women-led economic growth and sustained cooperation between the force and the local community.

Villagers expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its positive impact on income generation and overall community development. Assam Rifles stated that through welfare-oriented projects under Operation Sadbhavana, it continues to strengthen civil-military cooperation and contribute to the socio-economic progress of communities in its area of responsibility.
