A joint team comprising Manipur Police, Central Forces, the Forest Department, and an Executive Magistrate carried out a poppy destruction drive on Friday at Lhungjang village hill range under Saikul Police Station, Kangpokpi District. During the operation, approximately 45 acres of illegal poppy cultivation were destroyed. An FIR has been registered for further investigation.

In a separate operation, Manipur Police and the Forest Department conducted another poppy destruction drive at the hill range of Nurathel Village under Noney Police Station, Noney District. Around 4.49 acres of illegal poppy cultivation were cleared, and an FIR has been filed for further inquiry.

Authorities continue their crackdown on illegal poppy farming in the state.
