The Manipur government has announced a ban on the use of laser lights, including laser pointers and laser shows, within a 10-kilometre radius of Imphal International Airport to ensure flight safety and prevent distractions for pilots during aircraft operations.
In an official statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West district, the public was informed that the prohibition follows recommendations made during the recent meeting of the Airfield Environment Management Committee of Imphal International Airport.
“As discussed in the last meeting of the Airfield Environment Management Committee of the Imphal International Airport, it is hereby directed to the general public that use of laser lights, both laser pointers and laser shows, is prohibited within the radius of 10 km of the Imphal International Airport,” the statement read.
Authorities have urged the public to comply strictly with the directive to avoid any threats to aviation safety.
