The Governor of Manipur graced the 55th Statehood Day celebrations at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground here on Wednesday, marking the State’s attainment of full statehood on January 21, 1972.
The Governor was accorded a Rashtriya Salute and inspected the parade, as 14 contingents took part in an impressive march past showcasing discipline, unity and pride.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor described Statehood Day as a symbol of Manipur’s democratic aspirations, constitutional empowerment and collective identity. He called upon the people, particularly the youth, to uphold peace, harmony, unity and the rule of law, and to actively contribute towards nation-building.
The Governor expressed hope that Statehood Day would inspire every citizen to strengthen democracy through unity, harmony and responsible action.
