A high-level delegation from the Centre, led by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, IAS, and Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka, IPS, visited two relief camps in Churachandpur on Sunday to oversee the well-being of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and review camp conditions.

The Central team was joined by Manipur Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, and other senior officials from the State and District administrations.

Upon arrival at the 36 Assam Rifles Helipad at Headquarters Veng, the delegation proceeded to the Dorcas Veng Relief Centre in New Lamka. There, the Union Home Secretary inaugurated a Crèche Facility for children and launched a Women’s Tailoring Program, both aimed at supporting and empowering women and children residing in the camp.

The team later visited another relief camp at Sadhbhavna Mandap, Tuibong, where Govind Mohan inaugurated a Crèche-cum-Children’s Library, further bolstering child-centric support mechanisms at the facility.

At both camps, the officials interacted with IDPs, inspected relief infrastructure and materials, and assessed the overall living conditions. They also engaged with caretakers, listened to their concerns and suggestions, and assured them of the government’s continued commitment to relief and rehabilitation efforts.

A special moment during the visit was the felicitation of 15 students from the two camps who passed the HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations 2025 — five from Dorcas Veng and ten from Sadhbhavna Mandap. Certificates of appreciation were presented by the Union Home Secretary. Additionally, Class I and Class III toppers from each camp were recognized and awarded for their academic excellence.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Manipur Police Department were also part of the visiting delegation.
