Manipur CM Biren Singh Commemorates Nupi Lan Day, Honors Women’s Role In Anti-Colonial Struggles

Imphal, Dec 12: On Nupi Lan Day, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh of Manipur paid tribute to the women who played a pivotal role in the Nupi Lan uprisings of 1904 and 1939, which were significant movements against British colonial rule. The CM acknowledged their immense contributions to shaping the state’s history and identity.

CM Singh visited the Nupi Lan Memorial Complex in Imphal to offer respects at the Nupi Lan Statue. He also participated in a ceremony at GP Women’s College (Central Hall), where he highlighted the vital role women have played in shaping the cultural, political, and social fabric of Manipur.

In his address, CM N. Biren Singh remarked, “The sacrifices of our mothers are not just a part of history; they form the very foundation of our strength and vision for a better future.” He called on the people of Manipur to honor this legacy by promoting equal opportunities, respect, and empowerment for women and girls.

The Chief Minister also praised the ongoing contributions of Manipuri women in various fields such as sports, culture, and governance, celebrating their resilience and leadership. “Manipuri women are a symbol of strength and determination,” he added.

Concluding his speech, CM Singh reaffirmed his commitment to building an inclusive society with a strong focus on women’s empowerment, using the sacrifices of the past to inspire future progress.
