Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Monday flagged off five new vehicles for the Excise Department to strengthen the state’s ongoing campaign against the use and trafficking of prohibited substances.
The induction of the vehicles is expected to significantly enhance field-level surveillance, interception, and seizure operations carried out by the department across the state.
Officials said the move would improve mobility and operational efficiency in tackling drug-related offences.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the youth from the menace of drugs and ensuring a healthier, drug-free Manipur. He emphasised that strong enforcement measures, coupled with collective responsibility from citizens, are essential to building a forward-looking and healthy society.
The flag-off marks another step in the state government’s intensified efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking through strengthened infrastructure and coordinated action.
