Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inspected the ongoing rejuvenation works of the Imphal River being carried out at various locations along its course. The project aims to improve water quality and reduce the river’s Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), ensuring cleaner and healthier river water.
During the visit, the Chief Minister reviewed the eco-embankment work under construction near Lamlong Bridge. The 100-metre stretch, taken up as a pilot project, is designed to check bank erosion while simultaneously enhancing water quality through eco-friendly measures.
Yumnam Khemchand Singh was accompanied by Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Arun Kumar Sinha; Director, Environment and Climate Change, Dr. T. Brajakumar Singh; and other concerned officials.
Later, the Chief Minister visited Khurai Salanthong and inspected the development works underway at Pangei Road. He directed the implementing agency to expedite the ongoing works to ensure their timely completion.
