Imphal, Dec 20: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly “misbehaving” with Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland, Phangnon Konyak, during protests on Parliament premises.
In a post on X, the Manipur CM called the incident “unacceptable and disgraceful,” adding that it insulted the sanctity of Parliament. He expressed solidarity with Konyak and urged authorities to ensure justice.
Konyak, BJP’s Mahila Morcha President in Nagaland, accused Gandhi of making her feel uncomfortable during the incident and filed a complaint with Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, stating her dignity was hurt.
The incident occurred amid a heated standoff between Congress-led Opposition and BJP-led NDA over alleged insults to B.R. Ambedkar, which escalated into physical confrontations. Both sides accused each other of pushing and shoving, with BJP claiming injuries to two of its MPs, while Gandhi denied the allegations and said he was shoved by a ruling party member. Complaints have been filed by both parties.
