Golaghat, Dec 23 : Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has expressed his gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for hosting the training of Manipur police recruits at the Assam Police Lachit Barphukan Police Academy (LBPA) in Golaghat district. Singh commended the historic relationship between the two states, which has been strengthened during the ongoing unrest in Manipur.
During the passing-out parade of the recruits, Singh explained that the volatile situation in Manipur had made it impossible to conduct the Institutional Review Board (IRB) training locally. He thanked Assam’s leadership, particularly CM Sarma, for promptly agreeing to host the training program in Assam. “Assam’s timely support has been essential, and I am deeply thankful to the leadership and the state’s DGP for facilitating this training,” Singh said.
Despite the challenges in Manipur, Singh expressed optimism about the gradual improvement of law and order in the state. Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who also attended the event, congratulated the recruits and trainers, while paying tribute to the legacy of Lachit Barphukan. He urged the recruits to draw inspiration from Barphukan’s valor and contribute to national security.
A total of 1,984 recruits began their training in January 2024, with 1,946 successfully completing the 44-week program. The training covered physical fitness, unarmed combat, disaster management, crowd control, and tactical skills, with an emphasis on endurance and mental resilience. LBPA was chosen due to its proven success in training nearly 7,000 recruits over the past two years.
