Manipur Congress delegation Meets Priyanka Gandhi To Discuss State Crisis

A delegation of senior Congress leaders from Manipur, led by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Keisham Meghachandra and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, met with newly elected Member of Parliament from Wayanad, Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi, yesterday at 10 Janpath in New Delhi. The meeting commenced at 3:30 PM.

The delegation included prominent Congress leaders from Manipur, such as K. Ranjit Singh (Deputy CLP Leader), Th. Lokeshwar Singh (Chief Whip), M. Okendro (Ex-Minister), Dr. Kh. Loken Singh (Ex-Minister), Md. Fajur Rahim (Working President, MPCC), Hareshwar Goshwami (Vice-President, MPCC), and Md. Amin Shah (Ex-MLA).

During the 30-minute discussion at 10 Janpath, the official residence of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, the delegation presented an in-depth account of the ongoing turmoil in Manipur, which has persisted for the past 19 months. They emphasized the urgent need for peace and normalcy in the state and sought Priyanka Gandhi’s intervention to address the crisis.

The leaders also expressed gratitude to the Nehru-Gandhi family, particularly Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, for their steadfast support for the people of Manipur. They acknowledged the family’s consistent efforts to highlight the state’s issues on national platforms and provide solidarity during challenging times.

This meeting underscores the Congress party’s focus on resolving the challenges in Manipur and its continued engagement with regional leaders to advocate for stability and harmony in the northeastern state.
