Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Keisham Meghachandra has strongly criticised the recent visit of Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) President Conrad K. Sangma to Manipur, alleging that the visit was politically motivated and aimed at reviving the BJP-led NDA’s influence in the state.
In a post on X, Meghachandra said the NPP has become a “close ally and political partner” of the BJP and that Sangma’s visit was an attempt to strengthen the NPP’s organisation and reinforce its ties with the ruling party.
“The people of Manipur have clearly rejected the BJP-led NDA, whose years of misrule, corruption, and divisive governance have pushed the state into unrest and instability,” Meghachandra stated.
He further accused both the BJP and NPP of failing to protect Manipur’s integrity, restore peace, and deliver justice since coming to power in 2017. “The BJP and its ally NPP have played a major role in destroying the stability and spirit of the state — truly, BJP and NPP are two faces of the same coin,” he said.
Reaffirming the Congress Party’s commitment, Meghachandra added that the people of Manipur are now demanding real change for peace, accountability, and inclusive progress, and that the Congress stands firmly with them in their struggle to restore democratic values and rebuild the true idea of Manipur.
