Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, chaired a crucial security coordination meeting today at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur. The meeting aimed to ensure smooth and secure harvesting operations in fringe areas and to expedite the rehabilitation process for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The meeting was attended by key officials including SP (i/c) Th. Shangkar Deba, ADM Toijam Opendro, commanding officers and representatives of central forces, SDOs, OCs, and other concerned officials.
During the discussion, the DC underscored the importance of close coordination among all security agencies to facilitate peaceful harvesting operations. She urged officials to remain vigilant and extend all possible support to farmers for safe crop collection.
It was resolved that harvesting in fringe areas will be permitted between 6:30 AM and 4:00 PM, ensuring adequate security coverage during these hours. The DC also appealed to farmers to strictly adhere to the prescribed schedule.
SP (i/c) Bishnupur identified areas requiring additional security deployment and emphasized the need for meticulous planning to maintain peace throughout the harvesting period.
Security reports indicated that harvesting has already commenced smoothly in several fringe locations and is expected to conclude across the district by the end of November.
Addressing the issue of IDP rehabilitation, the DC called for collective efforts to ensure early resettlement. Security forces assured full cooperation, adding that several feasible sites for rehabilitation have already been identified.
Highlighting the gradual normalization of the situation, Pooja Elangbam urged all stakeholders to work in unity towards building a peaceful and progressive Bishnupur district.
