Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, encouraged students to pursue a balanced approach to education, combining academics with sports and extracurricular activities, during the opening ceremony of the Annual Games and Sports Meet 2025 at Loyola School, Lamlanghupi, Bishnupur.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, the DC emphasized that excelling in academics does not require sacrificing sports or other interests. “We should try to build a well-rounded personality,” she said, urging students to cultivate sportsmanship and resilience.
“The idea is to always give your best. Sometimes you may win or lose, but you must learn to accept both with grace and gratitude,” she remarked, highlighting the importance of learning from failure and supporting peers.
Encouraging students to cherish their school years, she said, “Instil the spirit of friendship, teamwork, and helping each other through every game and match. Participate in as many activities as possible and stay healthy, because without good health, you cannot study or work effectively.”
As part of the inaugural programme, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the March Past contingents, lit the torch, and formally declared the Annual Games and Sports Meet 2025 open.
The event was also attended by the Principal of Loyola School, along with teachers and parents.
