Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Sunday that 26 Myanmar nationals who had entered India through the state’s porous borders were deported to their home country.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh stated, “A group of 26 Myanmar nationals who entered India through Manipur’s porous border were deported to their home country today.”

He emphasized the state government’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to those fleeing conflict, ensuring their care and dignified departure. However, he reaffirmed Manipur’s firm stance against allowing illegal migrants to remain in the state.

The deportation highlights Manipur’s efforts to address illegal migration while balancing humanitarian concerns in light of the ongoing crisis in Myanmar.
